Calijah Benjamin Sequoia Lindvall

Calijah Benjamin Sequoia Lindvall, our sweet, loving, compassionate, talented Sonny Boy, transitioned out of this physical world on Saturday, August 21, 2021, after 21 years on this earth with us. Born on September 4, 1999, Calijah started continuously entertaining us with his energetic personality by climbing the door frames (literally) as a 2-year-old, in the farmhouse he and his beautiful mom, Keri Inga Lindvall of Brattleboro, Vermont shared. He entertained us with his original music and sweet, often angelic sounding voice.

Calijah graced us with his free-spirited curiosity about the world, and with his love and compassion for those he treasured in his little world …and beyond. He loved performing magic, spot-on impersonations, and making music. Children gravitated towards Calijah as he had a fun and loving heart-filled presence.

He loved rollerblading in the skate park when he lived in Sarasota, Florida, as well as, eating jars of pickles with his grandmother whom he lovingly called Toot as she called him her King Tutt. As a toddler, he loved watching Shrek…and watching Shrek…and watching Shrek…. to point of ‘negotiating’ with his grandfather one day when 2-year-old Calijah authoritatively said, “I will watch Shrek first, then you can watch the news. And that’s the deal.” And we ‘kinda’ listened, because when Calijah spoke, well, you had little choice…on that day anyway….so, yes, we watched Shrek first…and second…and probably 3 more times…

As a young child, Calijah spoke very well. He was very articulate, and he knew what he wanted, and he made sure you knew it too! He was also very intelligent, sensitive, compassionate, and always expressed gratitude for everything he had and anything anyone did for him or gave to him. On the other side, he was also so very generous and gave away things to those in need even though he had very little himself.

Calijah is continuously loved by many, especially his unconditionally supportive and loving mother, Keri Lindvall, his maternal grandmother (Nan) Robyn Stevenson and grandfather, Alex Stevenson, his maternal great-grandmother (Great Nanny), Rita Alley, Uncle Ed Lindvall, Uncle Taylor Stevenson and his loving family, his life-long Dad, Matthew Betts and Matt’s family, his biological father, Paul Sylvia and family, his half-sister Arial Sylvia, his best friend and cousin Sean Kelley, his Sunshine (Sunny, puppy dog), and Calijah’s extensive Lindvall, Alley, and Stevenson families and friends of New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, and around the world who adored him.

He is predeceased by, and has now joined in union, with his maternal grandfather, Ned Lindvall and so many other family members and friends who are sure to be greeting Calijah on the other side with open arms as we continue to miss and hold dear in our hearts all who have passed.

As his Uncle Taylor so lovingly said, “Calijah is a loving soul with depth, intellect, talent, humor, and a uniqueness that is absolutely beautiful.” May we remember Calijah in all his uniqueness, and may we continue to shower each other with an abundance of love, because knowing Calijah, this is what he would want most of all …
