Camilla Dolores Jones Tatem died peacefully on June 11, 2022, while with her oldest son Adam. Born in the Bronx, New York and then moved to Manhattan where she lived with her family until she attended college. Camilla lived for 85 years as a beloved daughter, wife, friend, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She attended Bronx High School of Science for high school. After graduating from Bryn Mawr College, she attended Medical school at the Women’s Medical College in Pennsylvania. She became a Pediatrician and dedicated her profession to the Developmentally Disabled. She worked as Medical Director at Bernard Fineson Development Center, Bronx Development Center, and Westchester Developmental Center in the State of New York. After raising her family in Harrison, NY she moved to Laconia, NH and continued her career as Medical Director for Laconia Developmental Services where she was instrumental in integrating these patients into the community. She then continued her passion in the field of Developmentally Disabled as a Pediatrician at Philbrook Children’s Hospital, DHHS Developmental Services, as well as a Developmental Pediatrician for Neuromotor Clinics and DHHS Special Medical Services in the State of New Hampshire. In 2009 she retired and continued to advocate for the developmentally disabled, volunteered for the Central NH Community Emergency Response Team & Medical Reserve Corps, NH Medical Society, CME accreditation surveyor at Granite State Physicians for a National Health Program and NH Medical Society and Single Payer Interest Group.
She is predeceased by her father Joseph Jones, mother Enda White Jones, sister Donalda Williams, and brother Joseph Jones.
She is survived by her husband, Adam Tatem Sr., her children Adam Tatem, Jr. and his wife Beverly Soule, Lawrence Tatem, Caryl Tatem and her husband Michael Mahoney and her brother Rayford Jones, her grandchildren Carissa Tatem, Kassidy MacDowell, Brittany Soule, Brandon Fleurie, Devon Soule, Raven Soule, Isabella Whitty, Adina Jenkins and Denzel Soule, and Great Grandchildren Louis Tangredi and Serena Grassman.
Along with many nieces, nephews, family friends and work associates.
Camilla enjoyed learning new things, like learning to sail her boat on Squam Lake. She also enjoyed knitting items as gifts for family and friends.
She was a wealth of knowledge; she actually read every book in the library while attending elementary school in Manhattan, NY.
She really enjoyed keeping in touch with everyone that she was related to, and distant co-workers from NY, Like Florie Alongi, who Camilla often spoke of her like she was a daughter.
Camilla was an extremely generous person; if someone had a problem she would do her best to help solve that problem.
She mostly enjoyed spending time with family, whether it was in person or over the phone.
She will be missed greatly by her family and friends and will always be remembered for the remarkable contributions she gave to this world.
