Carmen M. Desmond

In Loving Memory

Carmen (Blondeau) Desmond, 61, passed away on May 31st. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. She is with Him now, at peace and in joy. Carmen’s faith in Jesus carried her through many struggles.

Carmen loved music and singing, especially Carly Simon, Carole King, Chris Tomlin, Mike Adkins, Engelbert Humperdinck, and so, so many others. For fun she would complete 500-piece puzzles; some in less than a day. She loved Diet Pepsi, Fireballs, and cigarettes.

She always remembered to send cards for birthdays and Christmas. Often, she’d send a simple “Hi, how are you?” card—just because. That was Carmen. She made people feel seen, remembered, and truly loved.

She was deeply devoted to her family. Carmen showed up—every time, whether for a big celebration or a small gathering. She was present with love and warmth. Her cousins adored her, drawn to her generous spirit and unwavering loyalty. She never took kindness for granted. She said thank you—and meant it. Her gratitude often came in the form of handmade, personalized crafts—tokens of appreciation that reflected her creativity and deep caring for others.

Carmen lived with a gracious heart. She chose love and understanding and would make gentle excuses for those who couldn’t be there for her. In this aspect, Carmen sometimes seemed naïve; believing that all others cherished her as she cherished them. Though Carmen struggled most of her life, she did not like to impose on others. She had a sense of humor no matter what came her way. Many sharing memories have said, “She always put a smile on my face”. Fiercely independent, Carmen lived life on her own terms, blazing a trail of authenticity and courage.

Carmen was a very hard worker. Among her jobs were volunteering as a crossing-guard for the Goffstown School District and working at Manchester Tabacco in order preparation. Carmen cleaned homes too! She was willing to do what it took to get by.

Carmen is predeceased by her father, Raymond Blondeau Sr.; her cousin, Annette Blondeau; and her nephew, Tyler Blondeau.

She is survived by her children: Christy Dawn Blondeau, Justin Plamondon, and Michelle Egan; and by her grandchildren, Vivianne, Keagan, Jackson, Conner, Madison, Savannah, Charlie, Mikey, and Gabrielle. She is also survived by her mother, Vivian Blondeau; her siblings, Catherine Cheney (and husband Ulrich Goerke), Carolyn Babcock, Raymond Blondeau Jr. (and wife Michele), and Maurice Blondeau (and wife Mary); along with five nieces and five nephews.

Carmen lived a life filled with love, gratitude, and purpose. Her faith, kindness, and sincerity touched many hearts. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service will be held at Phaneuf Funeral Home in Manchester on June 18th, promptly at 11am, followed by a graveside committal at Westlawn Cemetery in Goffstown at 12:30pm. Friends and family are encouraged to attend in remembrance of Carmen. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Hampton.
