Carol Sue Bibber, of Dover, wife of David Bibber and mother of Shannon Knowles and Susan Ballantyne went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 after an extended illness. She passed away in Dover. She was surrounded by her family who loved her deeply and passionately. Carol touched the hearts of everyone she met, making people feel welcome even while being very ill; to the extent that many were not aware of the severity of her condition. Carol joins in Heaven, the loving arms of her mother and father, Joseph and Metta McGrady Jett, her sisters, Alyene Jett and Ernestine Kester and her brother Arnold Jett. Carol attended Beckley College in West Virginia and worked for the John Hancock Insurance Agency in Auburn, NY and the Department of Defense at Fort Belvoir, VA. After meeting her husband, David Bibber she devoted her life to being the most wonderful wife, mother, homemaker and friend. Carol leaves behind her loving husband of 44 years, David F. Bibber, former Fire Chief of Dover, NH; her daughters Shannon A. Knowles and husband Ryan; Susan B. Ballantyne and husband Scot; her grand-children Makenzie and Aidan Knowles, Alaythea Ballantyne and Diane Ballantyne Heisner; her sisters MaryJo from Charleston, SC and Barbara Lily from Auburn, NY; along with many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly. Carol participated in a number of activities with friends and family, including enjoying family at their summer camp in Down East, ME, and her winters in Florida with family. She was particularly devoted to her local Women's Bible Study Group and Eliot Baptist Church. Carol was one of the classiest ladies in town, well known for always having her lipstick on, nails done and hair styled. She was the most gracious hostess and friend. She will be desperately missed. A Memorial Service will be held at Eliot Baptist Church, 912 H.L. Dow Highway, Eliot, ME 03903 at 12:00 noon on Monday, January 12, 2009 with visitation and luncheon to immediately follow until 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elliot Baptist Church Youth Group. The Cremation Society of NH is assisting with arrangements.
