An extraordinary soul quietly slipped from this life on October 10, 2026, leaving behind a world forever warmed by her presence.

Carol Farmer was born in Denver, Colorado on May 20, 1940 to the late Walt & Anita Leypoldt. She spent her childhood years in the Midwest where she was an avid skier. She was very humble as we learned on a family trip to Steamboat Springs, CO where we saw articles and awards for her skiing accomplishments in their museum. Later she moved to Oregon and then made her way to Nashua, NH where she lived for over 50 years.

Carol’s love of family and sense of responsibility in the world guided her life choices and actions as a devoted daughter, partner, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was widowed in 1994 by her husband of 20 years, Walter Farmer. She then met her beloved partner Bil Bonnice with whom she spent 25 wonderful years until his passing in 2023. They shared an amazing and large blended family with whom she shared many family gatherings and trips which she cherished so much. She always welcomed new family members and created a loving and comfortable home.

Carol began working in Nashua as a medical transcriptionist and quickly discovered a passion and deep commitment to the community of those who face mental health challenges. She spent more than 40 years at the Greater Nashua Mental Health Center as Associate Executive Director, a role which she took very seriously and had great pride in. During her time at GNMH she helped implement many beneficial programs, raise mental health awareness and played a part in deinstitutionalization and contributions toward better lives and treatment for the mentally ill. Her dedication and compassion went past the job as she matched with an amazing patient through the Compeer Program and formed a relationship that lasted more than 25 years. She also mentored many other patients and maintained lasting relationships with them. Carol formed many friendships during her time at GNMH and after her retirement in 2011 she continued regular lunch get-togethers with many of these friends over the past 15 years.

Carol’s charitable nature didn’t stop there. She had many community affiliations including Adult Learning Center president and YWCA Council president and was very humbled when she was awarded the Distinguished Woman Leader award by the YWCA and the Humanitarian award by the Nashua Charitable Foundation. In 1998 Carol joined the Rotary Club of Nashua. She was truly led by the principal motto of Rotary International ‘Service Before Self’ as she put the needs of the community and others before personal comfort or ambition. During her nearly 30 years of service to Rotary, she chaired many programs and held many offices including President in 2016. Rotary held a special place in her heart.

Carol leaves behind a family who will carry her love and legacy forward - her children Becky Taylor Banner and husband Ron, Roxanne Taylor, Barry Farmer and wife Stacey, Tom Farmer and wife Joan, Sandi Wong and husband Ray, the late Walter Farmer and wife Vicki, ten grandchildren Jonathan, Sarah, Ashley, Andrew, Kristina, Nikki, Jacque, Joseph, Ben and Michael and 4 great grandchildren Oriana, Margot, Wesley and Wally. Carol is also survived by her loving family in Colorado, her sisters, Marcia Eberly and husband Bill, Linda Davis and husband Bill and her niece Dusty Carinder and husband Cris, her niece Tiffany Hutton of Oregon and bil’s children Fen Bonnice and wife Peg, Barbara Bonnice, Michelle Bonnice, Rana Bonnice and Iris Clearwater, grandchildren Ben Bonnice and wife Melissa, Elizabeth and Abbey Bonnice and Nick and Nathan Westbrook and great grandchildren Kellen, Reed and Brigid Bonnice.

Carol’s loving care, sense of humor, intelligence and grace under pressure lead her to many experiences in life and taught her what love can bring. To everyone special in her life she wants you to know how much you meant and how loved you were and always will be. She wanted to share this special message, Ascension, a poem by Colleen Hitchcock.

And if I go, while you're still here... Know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure --behind a thin veil you cannot see through. You will not see me, so you must have faith. I wait for the time when we can soar together again, --both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to its fullest. And when you need me, Just whisper my name in your heart, ...I will be there.

Those who knew Carol know how deeply she cared about the community and the wellness of those in need. In her memory, please consider a gift to one of the following…
