Carol Ann (Humphreys) McCarthy, 78, died Wednesday August 16, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. She was born on June 24, 1945, in Arlington, Massachusetts, the daughter of Robert Humphreys and Florence (Hackler) Humphreys.
In 1954 Carol’s parents moved to Woburn, Massachusetts, making it their home. Carol graduated from Woburn High School in 1963. Carol’s love for horses bloomed at a very young age and continued throughout her life. This passion would weave its way through the tapestry of her life. One of her many interests was the New England Harness Racing School, which she attended from 1982-1984. Carol’s enthusiasm for all things equine led to her participating in barrel racing, rodeos, and horse shows with the Billerica Horseman’s Association. Her leadership of the Woburn 4-H Rangers in the 1980’s further exemplified her dedication to fostering a deep connection, understanding, and appreciation of animals. In 2004, Carol moved in with her loving daughter and dearest Son-in-Law in Pelham, NH and lived out her remaining years of life with her family by her side.
Carol was also a proud member of many animal rescue organizations. Her heartwarming commitment to rescuing countless animals of all kinds touched the lives of many. Carol’s legacy lives on through the lives she saved and the passion she instilled in others. Carol will continue to inspire all who have had the privilege of knowing her.
