Carol Ann
Placey
October 28, 1951 – May 22, 2026
Carol Ann Placey passed away on May 22, 2026, while in the compassionate care of the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin, New Hampshire, and with family by her side.
She was born on October 28th, 1951, in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to Dorine (Gilbert) Roy and Edward Roy. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1969.
She settled in Stewartstown, New Hampshire, where she was a homemaker and loving mother of four children.
Later in life, she spent 27 years with her life partner, Rene Rancloes, with whom she had many happy memories. She also worked several enjoyable years at the Colebrook Country Club, and liked to visit with friends over coffee at Howard’s Restaurant before work. She loved the holidays and was known for making beautiful Christmas wreaths.
Throughout her life, she was an avid flower gardener and lover of nature. She enjoyed nature photography and captured beautiful moments of the north country. In her more recent years, she was a literary enthusiast, and read many books, with mysteries being her favorite genre. She loved visits with her family and friends all the way until the end.
She had a soft and kind personality, with a patience that we can all admire. She will live on through her flowers, photography, and the memories that she shares with so many loved ones.
Carol was preceded in death by her life partner of many years, Rene Rancloes, his parents Glenna and Frank Rancloes, her parents Dorine and Jack Colbeth, her sister Linda Niles, and her sister-in-law Pam Roy.
She is survived by four children, Tina (Craig) Hamelin of Colebrook, New Hampshire, Hank (Stacey) Placey of Stewartstown, New Hampshire, Angie Placey of Lemington, Vermont, and Sara Placey (Robert) Rouleau of Twin Mountain, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren (Sierra, Libby, Abby, Saidy, Celia, Rain, and Sebastian); three great-grandchildren (Nylah, Kali, and Aria), and her beloved Aunt Clarice.
She is also survived by her brother, Bruce Roy, of Lyndonville, Vermont, her sister Carmen, and so many in the Rancloes family that she considered family (Connie, Wanda, Rita, David and Mel, Bim, and Vicki Ladd), as well as many other loving friends and relatives.
Services for friends and family will be held on Sunday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to Two Rivers Relief for Cancer.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Littleton. To view Carol's Online Tribute, send condolences to the family, or for more information, visit www.csnh.com.
