Carol ''Song of Joy''. These things I have spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. John 15:11. Carol A. Sturgis of Grantham, NH was received into the Lord's presence Sunday August 12. She was born in Boston, December 10, 1915, daughter of Herbert S. and Alma Anderson Avery. Mrs. Sturgis was a graduate of Boston University and Boston University School of Law. She was the widow of George Sturgis who died in 1944 She has resided in Grantham, NH since 1944 where she owned and operated Gray Ledges Farm and Christian Conference Center until 1977 when the Conference Center was sold. In the 40's and 50's she developed one of the top registered Ayshire herds in New England. In 1960 Gray Ledges was dedicated as Christian Conference Center where many outstanding Christian Leaders conducted conferences. For a period of time Mrs. Sturgis also owned and operated the Elmer E. Avery Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Plymouth, MA. In 1989 Mrs. Sturgis was awarded a Juris Doctorate Degree by Boston University School of Law ''in recognition of the honor brought to the Law School and for her record of achievement and service to society.'' Mrs. Sturgis was a dedicated Christian whose ministry impacted countless lives. Her daughter, Tara Sturgis Romano of Holland, MI, three grandsons, Peter John Romano II MD, wife Cathy and daughter Sophia, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Rex Michael Romano, wife Sherry and daughter Kristen, of Dallas, TX and Robert Avery Romano also from Dallas, survive her. Mrs. Sturgis is also survived by seven brothers and sisters and their spouses: Helen Williams of Charlotte, NC, Richard and Betty Avery, Virginia Beach, Alden and Dee Avery, Hawaii, David and Shelby Avery, Murphy, NC, Paul and Pauline Bechard, Virginia Beach, Constance and Lew Mix, Virginia Beach, Beatrice and Robert Benson, Virginia Beach and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday August 17, in her garden at 531 Dunbar Hill Road, Grantham at 2:00 PM. A reception for family and friends will follow. Interment will be held Vine View Cemetery, Plymouth, MA, on Friday, August 18 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of floral gifts, memorials may be made to Lake Sunapee Home Care & Hospice, P.O.
