Carol W. Tucker, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 31, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on February 10, 1942, in Potsdam, New York, Carol was the daughter of Nettie and Robert Farr. She was a proud and devoted mother to Matthew Tucker (Melissa) and Mary Tucker, and a beloved grandmother to Kaela Aldrich (Clayton), Ryan Tucker (McKenna), Mason Tucker (Asha), Aiden Dempsey, and Bryson Tucker. Her grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly known as “Meme,” were truly her life, and nothing brought her greater joy than sharing time, traditions, and love with them. She especially treasured watching Boston Celtics games, sharing many special moments cheering them on alongside Ryan. Carol also greatly enjoyed trips to the Maine coast with Kaela and proudly watching Bryson play his many sports, never missing an opportunity to support her grandchildren. She was also blessed with a cherished great-grandson, Arthur John Aldrich, who held a very special place in her heart.
Carol was deeply devoted to her children and was extremely involved in Mary and Matthew’s childhood. She spent much of their early lives as a stay-at-home mother, dedicating herself fully to their upbringing, school activities, and daily routines. Her constant presence, love, and guidance shaped their lives and remained a foundation of her family.
Carol is survived by her sisters, Nancy Steinmeier, Lydia Peak (Charles), and Gail Stelmacher (Mark); her brother, Maynard Farr (Barbara); and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Tucker, who passed away in 1992, and by her dear companion and special friend, Don Belevance, who passed away in 2018. Don’s family became a second loving family to Carol, and that bond remained close and deeply meaningful throughout her life.
A graduate of Keene State College, Carol dedicated her professional life to education, touching many lives early on as a student teacher at Lebanon High School and later as a teacher at Hopkinton High School, Canaan Elementary School, and Enfield Elementary School. She was known for her patience, kindness, and genuine care for her students, leaving a lasting impact on all those she taught.
Carol continued her lifelong dedication to service at the Mascoma Senior Citizens Center, where she began as a cook and later became the Director. In every role she held, she was admired for her compassion, strong work ethic, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.
In 1992, Carol was honored as Canaan, New Hampshire, Citizen of the Year, recognizing her tireless commitment to community service. She was very active in the Canaan United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent and helped establish a food pantry in Canaan, New Hampshire, providing assistance to families in need. Later in life, Carol became a cherished member of the West Lebanon Congregational Church, where she found fellowship, faith, and a welcoming church family.
Her dedication to community involvement extended to Dollars for Scholars, the Canaan Crusaders, and 4-H, where she served as a leader for many years, mentoring and supporting local youth.
Carol was also a long-time member of the Canaan Lions/Lioness Club, sharing her generosity and commitment to helping others. For a time, she could be found volunteering in the scoring tower at the Canaan Lions Motocross track, hand scoring as a way to ease her nerves as Matthew was racing his bikes.
In addition, Carol was a proud and devoted member of the Lebanon American Legion Auxiliary, generously giving her time and energy in countless ways. She served two terms as President, held numerous officer and committee roles, visited veterans at the Veterans Hospital, distributed poppies each year—often with Kaela by her side—and supported junior members and deployed troops. Even in her final days, Carol remained devoted to this work, recently collaborating with Auxiliary President Lesia Vorachak on her Tilton Veterans Hospital report. Her tireless efforts and compassionate spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Carol will be remembered for her selfless service, unwavering faith, deep love for her family, and the countless meaningful moments she shared so generously.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 11:00 AM at the West Lebanon Congregational Church. A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion, Post 22, 189 Mechanic Street, Lebanon, NH 03766, or to the West Lebanon Congregational Church, 18 Maple Street, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
