Carole A. Picard

Carole A. Picard (Blacker) of Manchester, NH passed peacefully in her home on August 21, 2023. She was born March 9, 1960 in Arlington, MA to Walter and Alice Blacker. Wife of Leo Picard, they married October 24, 1986 in Reading, MA and eventually settled in Manchester with their children, Pamela and Andrew. She is also survived by her faithful canine companion, Gizmo. Carole originally grew up in Somerville and later moved to Reading, where she graduated from Reading Memorial High School in 1978. She began her career in clerical work at Crusader Paper in Woburn where she and Leo met through mutual friends.

Carole saved sentimental reminders over the years: Broadway playbills, concert ticket stubs, matchbooks, letters from old friends, birthday balloons, and many pictures. While looking through these memories, her family found an old essay, written by her friend Lisa for school. In it, Lisa asked: ‘Is there anything you would like to do that you have never been able to?’ and Carole answered, ‘I would like to go to Florida.’

Carole and Leo shared a love of all things Disney and she was able to fulfil her hope of going to Florida many, many times over the years. They visited Disney World annually and would seek out new experiences throughout the parks. Their excitement and care-free demeanor was always warmly welcomed by the Disney cast members. Carole also loved to visit northern New Hampshire every fall with her husband where she would take in the beautiful foliage, browse The Christmas Loft in North Conway and visit favorite spots like Franconia Notch and the Flume Gorge.

No formal services will be held at this time. A private memorial gathering will be planned in the future for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to donate to the Manchester VNA. (https://www.manchestervna.org/give-a-gift)
