Carolyn J. Thorburn

Carolyn Janice (McKinstry) Thorburn, 80, passed away surrounded by family and those who cared for her on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at GCNH in N. Haverhill, NH. She was born on November 8, 1943 in Irasburg, Vermont, the daughter of Raymond McKinstry and Flora (Lafleur) Pixley. 

She was the wife of Dean Thorburn. They were married on May 19, 1995, in Newbury, VT. They were married until Dean Passed away on July 22, 2010. 

Carolyn was a homemaker and was known for her tasty homemade meals and beautiful crafts. She loved to sew and make quilts and clothes for herself and her grandchildren, making homemade costumes for her grandchildren for Halloween. She was a social butterfly and loved going to church, shopping with her daughters/granddaughters, and enjoyed going to all the family cook outs and holiday dinners, graduations, etc. She really enjoyed spending time with her family. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Flora Pixley (East Ryegate, VT) and Raymond McKinstry (Berlin, VT), her brothers, Dwight Patrick (Brownington, VT), and Christopher Patrick (Burlington, VT).

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Sandy Berube of Wilder, VT and Heather Wagner (Greg) of Moretown, VT. Her sisters, Gloria Robertson of Berwick, ME and Diana Fanning (Roy) of Rogers, AR. Her grandchildren, Michael Tardie, Brook Tardie, Chelsea Poland, Kory Wagner, Thomas Wagner, Sky Severance, Forest Tardie, Jason Wagner, Lindsey Nunn, and her great-grandchildren, Aalyah Tardie, Bryce Tardie, Kayden Tardie, Tanner Severance, Owen Doorey, Summer Clark, Devin Severance, Matthew Tardie, Elliott Wagner, Ryker Wagner, and Oakley Doorey.  

A funeral service will be held beginning at 11 :00 am on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Moretown Elementary School in Moretown, VT, with Pastor Jason Mcallister officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend. A small reception to follow.
