Catherine (Poor) Lodato

Catherine E. (Poor) Lodato
Ms. Catherine E. (Poor) Lodato died at home in Barrington, NH, on October 25th with her loving companion of 17 years, Bob Alberto, by her side, after an 8-month courageous battle with lung cancer.
Cathy was born on January 5th, 1957, to the late Dorothy (Jones) Poor and Lawrence M. Poor. She was raised in Candia, NH with her brother, Brian Poor, and graduated from Manchester Central High School.
Cathy was previously employed by Manchester Motor Freight where she made many friends, and recently at Measured Progress.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Robert MacDonald.
Cathy was a true friend to everyone she met; her best friend, Judi Anthony, was her constant source of strength, bringing her to all of her doctor's and chemo appointments. Despite a grim prognosis, Cathy had a strong will to live and had a "can do" attitude about beating the odds right up to the end. She will be remembered for her happy disposition and her smile, which lit up any room she was in. She was brave and optimistic and lived her life to the fullest as long as she could. She was an inspiration to all.
Cathy loved camping, swimming, going to Saratoga with Bob every summer, scrapbooking, her friends, family, and her cat Cocoa Bear. Her proudest accomplishment was buying her own home six years ago.
Cathy leaves behind many friends, and her beloved significant other who was always there for her right to the end, and who made her last summer enjoyable by taking her to Saratoga and North Conway, where she spent those last vacations happy and hopeful.
Besides her incredible number of friends, Cathy leaves behind her brother Brian Poor of Albuquerque, NM; her sisters, Nancy Tyler of St. Albans, ME; Jocelyn Szczblewski (husband David) of Boscawen, NH; Leslie Jasper of Nashua, NH; and Lauren Chmielecki of Nashua, NH; also many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Cathy's name to St. Jude's hospital, her favorite charity. The family would like to thank Cathy's friends and hospice workers for their love and kindness.
The Cremation Society of NH is in charge of arrangements. A memorial will be planned at a later date.
