Cecelia Jane Clayton, lovingly known as “Sassy,” 70, of Troy, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026 at her home.

Celia was a woman whose presence could never be ignored—full of spirit, warmth, and a touch of sass that earned her the nickname so many came to love. She lived a life rooted in compassion, faith, and unwavering love for those around her.

Born to the late Edward Racine and Christine (Shortis) Racine, Celia carried forward the values they instilled in her—kindness, strength, and devotion to family. She was also predeceased by her brother, Douglas Racine, and her beloved husband, Kelson Clayton, whom she held close in her heart always.

Celia dedicated several years of her life to working as a nurse, a role that perfectly reflected who she was at her core—a caregiver, a comforter, and a steady presence in times of need. She didn’t just care for her patients; she cared for people, deeply and genuinely. That same compassion extended far beyond her profession and into every relationship she held.

She is lovingly survived by her brother Dennis Racine and his wife Colette of Troy, NH, her stepdaughter Tina Freeman and her partner Mikey of Winchendon, MA, and her cherished nieces and nephews: Jeremy Webster and his wife Christy of Summerville, SC, Jay Webster and his wife Jessica of Hot Springs, AR, Christa Plante, and Dustin Plante of Troy, NH.

Celia’s heart found a special kind of joy in her great-nieces and great-nephews—Makenna, Rylee, Ethan, and Jayse—who brought light, laughter, and pride into her life. They were truly a bright spot in her world, and she loved them deeply.

To know Celia was to know love without conditions. She was the person you could always count on—the one who showed up, who listened, who gave without asking for anything in return. Her strength was quiet but undeniable, and her faith was the foundation that carried her through life.

She believed deeply, loved fiercely, and lived with a grace that left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her and is now at peace. Her love, her laughter, and her legacy will live on in each of us.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of life will be held Friday May 8, 2026 at 1PM at the Samuel E. Paul Community Center. 61 South Street Troy, NH 03465.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent Troy Police Department, Troy Fire Department or Cheshire EMS for all their help and compassion in her final moments.
