Chad Alan
Smith
May 2, 1971 – May 18, 2026
Chad Alan Smith, 55, passed away suddenly on May 18, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, on May 2, 1971, Chad was the beloved son of Marvin and the late Cindy Smith, and the younger brother to Cary "Sparky" Smith. From an early age, Chad's warmth and humor drew people to him, and he never lost his gift for making everyone feel welcome.
Chad's journey took him from Arizona to New Hampshire and back again, but wherever he went, he built lasting friendships-most notably with his two best friends/brothers Dave Alukonis and Brian Ouellette, who remained by his side through every chapter of life. After earning his degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Chad chose to return to Hudson, New Hampshire, where he built his life, family, and community. For more than 22 years, he was a dedicated employee of The Home Depot spending most of his career at the Londonderry location before transferring to Tilton for his final five years. It was at the Londonderry store he met his future wife, Jennifer, shortly after she had moved to New Hampshire from Rhode Island. Their story blossomed into a partnership filled with laughter, support, and deep affection.
Standing tall at 6'3", Chad was impossible to miss, but it was his booming voice and his infectious laugh that most people noticed long before his stature. His larger-than-life presence was compounded by this rare ability he had of turning strangers into friends and to make everyone feel welcome. Whether with family, lifelong friends, coworkers, or neighbors, Chad's kindness and loyalty shone through in every interaction.
Chad's greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jennifer, and their son, Dean, the absolute light of his life. He is also survived by his father Marvin, brother Cary, niece Kera, and a large extended family who shared a close bond with him.
Chad's passing comes after a period of deep loss for his family, but the love, laughter, and compassion he shared will remain a light in the dark. Though gone too soon, Chad's spirit lives on in the memories, stories, and hearts of all who knew and loved him. If they listen they can still hear his laugh.
A Celebration of Life is not scheduled for the immediate future but plans will be arranged and the family will make the announcement. In honor of Chad be kind to each other and celebrate your loved ones.
Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Boscawen. To view Chad's Online Tribute, send condolences to the family, or for more information, visit www.csnh.com.
