Chanel Joseph Bergeron

Chanel Joseph Bergeron, age 93, died peacefully with his family by his side on September 19, 2021.

He was born on December 31, 1927 son of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Croteau) Bergeron and was educated in Lawrence MA.

Chanel served in the US Navy during World War II. He married Lorraine Beaulieu in 1951 and lived most of his life in Lawrence MA moving to York ME in 1997 and then to Raymond NH in 2006.

He worked as an electrician for Sylvania Electric, Western Electric and retired as chief electrician for the Lawrence General Hospital in 1994. While at the hospital Mr. Bergeron served many years on the Safety Committee, serving as Assistant Fire Safety Officer and Chair of the Environmental Safety Committee. Mr. Bergeron was also active on the L.G.H. Federal Credit Union Board of Directors. He was instrumental in computerizing the Credit Union.

Mr. Bergeron was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish in South Lawrence for over 40 years, most of those years as Lector and EME.

He spread a happy and positive spirit everywhere he went and enjoyed life fully. He was a great man, a hard worker, the epitome of love of family, a warm soul, a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle, ‘outlaw’ and a beautiful example for us all.

The widower of his beloved Lorraine (Beaulieu), Chanel leaves behind his six children, Gail Blouin and husband Richard of Nottingham NH, Gary Bergeron and wife Diana (Potter) of Hollis NH, Mona Thornhill and husband Dean of North Andover MA, Cathy Dube and husband Henry of Derry NH, Thomas Bergeron and wife Rebekah (Prince) of Exeter NH, and William Bergeron and wife Sheila (Stanton) of Westford MA. He has 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Chanel will be missed by many and forever loved.

There will be a private funeral service. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life to be held on June 12, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center or the American Lung Society.
