Charles Anthony Bouthiette, 82, better known as “Chuck Booth”, musician, drummer, craftsman, stonecutter, and proud father and grandfather, died March 1st, 2026, after a brief period of failing health. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the time of his passing.

Chuck was born February 15, 1944 to Harold and Augustine (Bergeron) Bouthiette. Throughout his life he reveled in the joy of music as a performer, an instrument sales and repairman, and as a mentor to countless aspiring musicians. His contagious enthusiasm for the music scene in greater New Hampshire was unrelenting. He loved every aspect of the gig – driving to the gig, playing the gig, the music, the crowd, and especially being with musicians who performed with him and knew him as a good friend. He had an extraordinary memory that could recall with precision every gig and every person with whom he played. Proudly and enthusiastically gigging into his 80’s, his passion was jazz. Chuck’s final performances were at his granddaughter’s wedding where he played bongos in a jazz trio with two of his grandkids, and a recurring local jazz gig with his son, Brian. Chuck’s music lives on with Brian, with whom he often played, and all his grandchildren.

He worked a good part of his life at Ted Herbert’s Music Mart, in charge of the percussion department. He was sought after by a multitude of customers for his acumen with instruments that needed attention. He excelled at violin set up and repair.

Chuck was also a craftsman. He was a stonecutter at Arens Stoneworks in Greenland NH, where he worked with marble and granite slabs and turned them into beautiful counter tops, tables, and heirloom mantle clocks. His pursuit of perfection was his great asset, and he took pride that his work was done well.

Chuck’s sense of humor is unsurpassed, and he treasured his friends and the memories they made together. He was a kind, gentle, and exceedingly generous man. Chuck leaves behind his son, Brian Bouthiette and his wife Kim; daughter, Tracy Gallagher; seven grandchildren: Kelsey Gallagher, Alyssa Gallagher, Megan Hallee and her husband Dane, Avery Caporale and her husband Matt, Emma Bouthiette, Chase Bouthiette, and Colton Gallagher; one great-grandson; his sister Anne Swierz and brother Tom Booth; his God-child, Katie Routhier and her family Billy and Leigh; a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and multitude of musicians and friends who loved him and will miss him deeply. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold “Skip” Booth.

Chuck was an inspiration and mentor to numerous people, living his last 35 years in sobriety. He credited his life to the program and instructors at The Farnum Center in 1991. In emulating Chuck’s compassion and understanding for those struggling with addiction, please consider honoring his memory with a memorial donation to Hope for NH Recovery at Donate - Hope Recovery.

A musical celebration of life will honor Chuck’s memory, and all are invited. Details will be shared in a separate invitation or reach out to the family for specifics.
