Charles Aurthur Grootenboer, age 88, of Lancaster, NH, passed away on October 8th at the Weeks Memorial Hospital, due to long term illness, with his family by his side.

Born March 9th,1938, in Passaic, NJ, to Richard and Edna Grootenboer. Chuck served in the Navy a majority of his young adulthood, traveling the world. He later in life settled down in Lancaster, NH, where he worked as a foreman for the Department of Transportation (DOT), until retirement.

Chuck had a passion for riding horses and showing his oxen. Previously to be seen in the Lancaster fair every autumn in his younger days. He was always keeping himself busy by spending his free time outdoors working in the yard, splitting and stacking fire wood. If he wasn’t tending to chores around the property, you could find him in his lazy boy with the TV on a western, max volume.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Charlene A Grootenboer, who he referred to as Char. His daughters, Constance Grootenboer Gannett and husband Ron Gannett, Mikella Eichen and husband Larry Eichen. His sons, Richard Grootenboer and fiancé Brandy Beaulieu, Charles J. Grootenboer and wife Mary Grootenboer, and Zachary Grootenboer, wife Denise Grootenboer. Along with many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no public services, as his family will lay him to rest privately. Chuck loved a Johnny Cash song, because of that, in the words of Johnny..

“Yeah, we’ll meet again

I don’t know where

And I don’t know when

But I do know

That we’ll meet again

Some sunny day”
