CHARLES H. TURNER, JR., 70, Retired GE Labor Relations Executive Retired GE Executive Charles H. Turner, Jr., 70, of Waterville Valley, NH, died on Thursday, September 19, 2002. Born in Schenectady, NY, Mr. Turner was an officer in the U. S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956 and in the Reserve, achieving the rank of Captain. He joined GE's Employee Relations Management Program in 1956. He was a Union Relations Negotiator with the company in Burlington, VT from 1959 to 1963. Subsequently, he held labor relations management positions in Rome, GA, Louisville, KY, Cincinnati, OH, and Corporate Headquarters before returning to Schenectady in 1973 as Manager of Plant Employee Relations. Mr. Turner retired in 1995 from the position of Manager, Labor Relations for the Power Generation Business, having served the Company for over 41 years. Mr. Turner was active in the Galway Lake Sailing Club for many years, and won many championships there and also placed highly in national competitive sailing events. He also served the Ruback's Grove Campers Association as an officer for many years, initiating the popular practice of Bloody Mary parties after the annual work parties. Mr. Turner was a member of the Planning Board and Conservation Commission in Waterville Valley, NH, and was President of the West Branch Village Owners Association. Survivors include his current wife of 18 years, Margaret; his first wife of 27 years, LuAnn; two sons, Charles H Turner, III, of Elmira, NY, and Christopher H. Turner of Scotia, NY; and three grandchildren, Ian, Caitlin, and Aubrey Turner. There are no calling hours. A private celebration of life with family and friends is planned for October 19th, in Waterville Valley. Burial will be in the Waterville Valley cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either of the following nonprofit organizations: Galway Lake Sailing Club, c/o Glen Rundell, 8 Leonard Drive, Clifton Park, NY 12065; Waterville Valley Meeting House Corporation, P. O. Box 286, Waterville Valley, NH, 03215.
