Charlotte W. Wood, 77, of Dover recently died peacefully at home. Ms. Wood was born on November 30, 1926 in Rochester, New York, the eldest daughter of the late Spencer and Blossom (Pye) Walker. She was a community activist in Dover for over thirty years, appointed by the governor to the state commission on the Status of Women, a counselor at Strafford Guidance Center, the past President of the Portsmouth NAACP, Chairperson of the Youth Committee, a member of Kwanza, the Diversity Counselor at McIntosh College and initiated the dialogue programs with Portsmouth and Dover Police and the director of Kelley Brook Center Daycare. Charlotte was a psychotherapist and a graduate of Howard University, Smith College and a Tufts Fellowship Scholar. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Young; grandson, Ryan Lewis; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loving recipients of her wisdom and guidance through the years. There will be a memorial service on April 17th at 256 Knox Marsh Road in Dover, NH at 12 Noon in back of the barn. All who have had a "Charlotte Encounter" are welcome to come.
