Cheryl Ann Baxter

Cheryl Ann (Werner) Baxter, of Whitefield, NH, passed away on February 22, 2023, at home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Cheryl was born on April 19, 1957, in Willimantic, CT to the late William Werner and Mary (Zoldak) Harakaly (stepdaughter to Stephen C. Harakaly III). With her seven sisters, she grew up on the Harakaly homestead in Chaplin, CT, where she cultivated a lifelong love and appreciation for the arts, as well as forging a DIY spirit. Crocheting, painting, baking, gardening, and hosting family and friends were some of her greatest joys and talents.

She graduated from Parish Hill High School, married her forever soulmate Bruce Baxter, and settled in Windham, CT, where she worked for Tennett Tree Service for many years. In the years to come, Cheryl and Bruce would move to Whitefield NH with their two children, where many cherished memories were made with family and friends in the beautiful White Mountains.

Cheryl went on to have many professions throughout her time in New Hampshire. She held positions at Garnet Hill, Littleton Coin Company, and FCI where she would eventually retire. As a woman of strong faith, Cheryl was able to persevere through hard times. She was also passionate, charismatic, brave, and always open to opportunities and experiences, making her fun and captivating to be around. Her love and dedication made her a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and wife. Her treasured moments were spent in the White Mountains, vacationing with her family on Cape Cod, tending to her gardens, riding with her husband on the Harley, and endlessly spoiling her grandchildren, Julia and Cayson.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents William Werner, Mary (Zoldak) Harakaly, and her stepfather Stephen Harakaly, as well as her sister, Laura (Harakaly) Oja, her mother-in-law, Bernice Baxter, as well as her two nephews, Daniel Fitton, and Joel Turkia.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Bruce Baxter; her two children, Brittany (Baxter) Doucette and her husband David of Lancaster, NH, Cameron Baxter and his wife Ervy of Dalton, NH; and her beloved grandchildren, Julia Doucette, and Cayson Baxter. Siblings and their families; Patricia and Tim Downing of Whitefield, NH, Stephanie and Steven Sinkowski of Canterbury, CT, Gail Harakaly and her companion Richard Sears of Ballouville, CT, Victoria Harakaly and her companion Todd Joyal of Moosup, CT, Elizabeth Holmes and her companion Joey Vining, of West Melbourne, FL, Jennifer Ausburger and her companion Clint LeBlanc of Columbia, CT and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
