Chester "Chet"
Dunn
April 7, 1937 – April 26, 2026
Chester R. “Chet” Dunn
In sorrow & awe, we celebrate the incredible life of an amazing man, Chet Dunn of Durham, NH. On April 26, 2026, at the age of 89, we said goodbye to our family leader, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. A man that always put family first, with the gentle guidance of his loving partner & wife of almost 65 years, Hope Lee.
Chet, the oldest son of Roger & Isabell Dunn, grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts, along with his brother & sister. After finishing high school, he joined the Army from 1956–1958. He was stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas as a Heavy Rocket Crewman and received the Good Conduct Medal.
In 1961, Chet married Hope Lee, his soulmate. Together, they built a family, a business and a legacy. An amazing Dad to his 3 kids & their spouses and Bup to his 7 grandkids, their partners & 2 great grandkids.
Chet has been a member of the Thomas Talbot Masonic Lodge for over 60 years and a Dad Advisor for DeMolay, receiving the Cross of Honor. He has been a member of the Marathon Masonic Lodge No. 323 for over 35 years, and served as Worshipful Master in 2012. Chet also served as DDGM for 2019-2020 and was later certified by the Grand Lodge of Florida as a Past Master of Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of the Mahi Shriners in FL, and Bektash Shriners in NH and a member of the Scottish Rite. In addition, Chet was a proud member of The Elks, The Moose, American Legion of Marathon and The Royal Order of the Partridge.
Chet was a Charter Member and Past Commodore, of the Key Colony Beach Fishing & Boat Club, in his beloved playground, The Florida Keys. He was also chosen Citizen of the Year for Key Colony Beach, by his community.
Chet lived life with compassion, service, charity and hard-work. He always made time for family & friends, to hunt, fish and travel. Chet appreciated the beauty of nature and loved to share a sunrise and sunset. He guided, taught, directed, even sometimes preached, but he shared a piece of his soul with everyone he met.
Husband, Dad, Bup or Chet … Never Doubt, You Left Your Mark !
ARRANGEMENTS: At a later date, Chet will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, followed by a Celebration of Life at Alan’s of Boscawen. .
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The American Cancer Society, or just help a friend or stranger, while thinking of Chet with a Smile.
