Christian Leonard Hough, 80, of Allenstown, passed away at Pleasant View Center in Concord on April 28, 2018 following a lengthy period of declining health. His loving wife and family were by his side.
Chris was born in Rochester, NH December 25, 1937 to Richard L. and Lena Rose (Valley-Paige) Hough. He proudly served his country with the Army National Guard, retiring in 1995 after more than 24 years of faithful service. Chris was also a machinist with several companies during his life, including Taffa, the company from which he eventually retired. Chris happily kept himself busy fishing, hunting, playing bluegrass music on his acoustic guitar, and planting trees, a hobby which he parlayed into a part-time career with NH State Forest Nursery in Boscawen. He was also a history buff, particularly interested in Civil War facts.
Chris is survived by his wife of 14 years, Phyllis (Chaplin) Hough; five brothers, Andre of FL, David of Laconia, NH, Brian of Laconia, NH, Edward of FL, and Paul of Meredith, NH; two sisters, Mona Mattuzzi of NY and Judy Price of Gilmanton IW, NH; sons, Leonard of Sanbornton, NH, Joseph of Andover, NH, Warren of Northfield, NH, Peter of Ogunquit, ME, Daniel of TX; and Gary of Chichester, NH; step-children, Kenneth Richardson of Allenstown, NH, Brian Chaplin of Allenstown, NH, Jeremy Richardson of Manchester, NH, Randy Bennett of Newmarket, NH, and Laurie Gibeau of Danville, NH; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, dear friends and his beloved dog Kako. Chris was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret A. Hawkins; and grand-daughter, Jennifer Lee Hough-Engelhardt.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday May 8th at Faith Community Bible Church, 334 N Village Road in Loudon. Interment with military honors will take place at 2:00pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
