Christine Margaret (Schumacher) Modie passed away on November 14, 2022, at her home in Franconia, New Hampshire. Chris was born on December 23, 1952, in Syracuse, New York.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Richard Modie; her son, Noah and his partner, Rebecca Tischler of Greenfield, Massachusetts; and her stepson, Douglas and his partner, Suman Matthews of Burbank, California. She also is survived by her sister, Mary Farrin and her husband, Lloyd; her sister, Marsha Russell and her partner, Scott Kelley; as well as her brother, Charles Schumacher and his wife, Suzie Rosenblatt. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Terese Schumacher and her stepson, Gregory Modie.
Chris grew up in Topsfield, Massachusetts and graduated from Masconomet High School in 1970. She was a graduate of the University of Vermont and the University of Bridgeport. She held a master’s degree in clinical nutrition and a bachelor's degree in remedial education. Chris spent her career as a leader in technology in the financial services and insurance industries. She retired from Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Company in 2002 where she held the position of executive vice-president and chief information officer.
After retirement, Chris and her husband started a real estate development company in Fernandina Beach, Florida and divided their time between Florida and their mountain home in New Hampshire. She loved her family, her friends, her dogs, skiing, many hobbies, cooking, and buying gifts for her family and friends.
There will be a family celebration of this remarkable life in the near future.
