Claire Baillargeon, 83 years of age, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, after a period of failing health. Claire was born December 21, 1942, in Chartierville, Quebec, Canada to the late Albert and Eugenie Gagne. She was the last surviving member of seven children, predeceased by one sister and five brothers.
Claire was married to the late Armand “Poupoune” Baillargeon for over 50 years and, together, in the early 60’s, they moved from Canada to Colebrook, NH, where they raised three children; Peter (Heather) Baillargeon of Intervale, NH, Steve (Corrine) Baillargeon of Colebrook, NH and Sherley (Clem) McAuliffe of Bartlett, NH.
Claire was an excellent cook and was known for her cheeseburgers, meat pies and Canadian Cretons. She enjoyed travelling and spent many winters as a snowbird in Cocoa Beach, Florida. During one adventure, she and Poupoune spent months in a van, exploring the back roads of Mexico where they had many escapades, including, but not limited to an unwelcome introduction to Montezuma. In recent years she took an exciting “girls trip” to New York City with her friend Holly where many memories were made.
In addition to her children, Claire is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Jesse Baillargeon, Tanner Baillargeon, Patrik Petersen, Erik Petersen, Clemson McAuliffe, Raven McAuliffe, Griffin McAuliffe, Ethan Baillargeon and Gracie Baillargeon and two great-grandchildren, Savanna Baillargeon and Cyrus Baillargeon. Claire loved nothing more than her grandchildren and always spoke of them with great pride. She considered herself fortunate to have spent her last years living near them and welcomed their company any chance she could. Whether it was a quick surprise visit, a lunch date or getting free tech support and maintenance services, her grandchildren were the light of her life.
At her specific request, there are no public services scheduled.
