Clarence Antonio Trammell

Clarence “Red” Trammell, 96, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024, in Salem NH.. He was born in Mora, New Mexico, the son of Frank and Crisantos Trammell.  He was later joined by many brothers and sisters.  Those that have survived him are Ruby Romero of Colorado, Clive Trammell of Texas, Larry Trammell of Kentucky, and Dolores Romero of Colorado.

He was the husband of Mildred “Mim” Trammell (Jenkins). They were married on February 16, 1952, in Springfield, MA.  Mim’s mother heard a car squealing up to the curb in front of their home and said, “That’s Red!”   Mom alas knew that her mother was right when he came rushing into the room LATE for their date.

He began his career on the family farm and at age 17 joined the US Air Force. He served his country well for 22.5 years before retiring to spend more time with his family.  He later worked for AVCO/Textron and retired from the company after 30 years.   He was a mentor for a new hire and their friendship grew into becoming golfing buddies.

Clarence was an engineer at heart and a master at fixing/repairing or remodeling anything.   He did the maintenance on his cars as well as the neighbors when asked.   He plowed everyone’s driveways in the winter and never took a dime.   He was a man of generosity with his time and knowledge.  He was a man of many talents and the “go to person for how to do something.”

While Mim would be playing bingo on Fridays, Red would be playing his guitar and singing classic country and western songs.   Sundays were always a golf day, and he was always home in time for dinner.   When not golfing, he could be found at the Derry/Salem Elks lodge playing pool or out on the tennis court.   Everyone in the Arlington Pond area would see Red riding his bicycle even at the age of 80.

He is survived by daughter Debra and her husband, Robert, sons Glen, Guy and his wife Susan.  In addition, his grandchildren include Tony, Trent, Alexander, Justin, and Austin.  Anthony Robert was his great-grandson.

He adored his kids and looked forward to every visit with them.   It was always an adventure!  We are grateful that he is reunited with his wife and friends.

No formal services will be held.  The family wishes to celebrate his life privately.
