Clayton L. Rogers, Sr., 78, of Tilton died December 26, 2002 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home after a period of declining health. Mr. Rogers was born on February 16, 1924 in Stannard, Vermont. He was the son of the late Lester and Racheal (Tatro) Rogers. He was a U S Army Veteran who served in World War II. He was a POW and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked as a cook for B & M Railroad and then worked for the Penacook Tannery. For many years following he was a truck driver for Pembroke Boats. Family members include; ten sons, Peter Rogers of NH, Charles Rogers of Manchester, Stephen Rogers of Center Barnstead, Jeffrey Rogers of Allenstown, NH, Christopher Rogers of Salisbury, NH, Cary Rogers of Illinois, Robin Rogers of Pittsfield, Paul Rogers of Chichester, Clayton Rogers Jr. of Franklin and John Rogers of Lakeport, NH; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Rogers of San Diego, CA and Byron Rogers of Baja, Mexico; three sisters, Alice Gilbert of Clifton, Colorado, Eunice McDonald of Homassa, Florida and Alberta King of Tilton; many nieces and nephews. Burial will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen later this spring.
