Clyde G. Hayward, 78 of Sandown, N.H., died Tuesday, June 5th in his home. Born in Lowell, MA, February 8, 1929, he was the son of Clarence and Thelma (Kinne) Hayward of Dracut, MA. He was a resident of Sandown, NH, for the past 10 years. Clyde was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked for Raytheon and assisted in the design for the SCUD missile and also participated in the design of the first Appolo space craft. He graduated from the University of Lowell in electrical engineering and drafting. He is also a certified gunsmith. He was a member of the Chester Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, camping and hiked all the White Mountains. Clyde is survived by his beloved wife Myra (Williams) Hayward, a son Ronald Hayward of Georgia, daughter Tammy Petropoulos of Tewksbury, MA, Stepchildren; James DeFeo of Hudson, NH, Al DeFeo of Sandown, NH, Joanne Geisser of Sandown, NH, Wayne DeFeo of Northfield, NH, Robin DeFeo of Rochester, NH, 1 brother, Warren Hayward, of Maine; 1 sister, Nancy Briggs, of Florida; and not to forget the late Philip DeFeo of Woburn, MA. Many grandchildren and great granchildren will miss him also. SERVICES: There are no calling hours. Following cremation a memorial service will be held at the Trinity Assembly of God, 53 North Main Street, Derry, N.H. on Friday, June 8th at 5:00 PM.
