Constantine “Connie” Kosmenko, 87, of Newport, NH died at Concord Hospital on October 8, 2004. He was born in Needham, Ma., on November 23, 1916, the son of Michael and Barbara (Bendronevicz) Kuzmenka and lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 30 years. In 1979 he moved back to Newport, NH. Mr. Kosmenko was very active in football during his high school years. He was in his 60’s when he built his own home in Newport. He loved feeding his back yard animals, which included a bear, which he named Yogi. He was a self employed carpenter and was a part time Jehovah Witness Minister in Newport. He was an avid fisherman and a big fan of the Patriots and the Red Sox. When his daughter Heidi Margo (Lukas)Kosmenko Lukas died in 1982, he and his wife Barbara raised her son, Matthew Lukas. Family members include his wife of 65 years Barbara (Mary) Kosmenko, one grandson, three great grandchildren, three brothers; Michael Kosmenko, Alexander Kosmenko, both of Massachusetts and Walter Kosmenko of Maine, a sister, Mary Kosmenko of Massachusetts, several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be no visiting hours and services will be private. The Cremation Society of New Hsmpshire is in charge of arrangements.
