Dana Wood Levitt of Bedford passed away suddenly on March 14, 2022 at the age of 32. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Wood, of Manchester; two sisters, Mia (Dan) Mcphee and Michelle (Ted) Moore; nephew, Jack McPhee; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, David Levitt.
As a child, Dana was a bright light filled with curiosity about the world. As an adolescent, he began what would become a lifelong struggle with his mental health. He had hopes and dreams that seemed to always be just out of reach. Dana was an avid reader and book collector who loved his Dachshunds and found peace of mind at the ocean. He longed for the chance to someday work with orphaned elephants in Thailand or Africa. Dana loved his family and saw that loyalty and empathy reflected in the lifelong bonds of elephant herds. When he was well, Dana’s wry sense of humor could make anyone laugh. When unwell, depression and social anxiety left him isolated from the world.
Like others, Dana self-medicated when prescription drugs failed to provide relief. And, as is often the case, this put an end to his dreams forever.
