Daniel Gjika passed away on March 29, 2018. Born to Arthur and Florence (Mjalchka) Gjika on April 13, 1933. He lived and worked in the Boston, MA area until 1992 when he relocated to Manchester, NH.
He was a master electrician with electrical union IBEW Local 103 for the majority of his career until his retirement.
His real devotion was dedication to Jehovah God and his deep love of people. He worked tirelessly as a volunteer building and repairing places of worship all over New England. He willingly offered his time in his ministry, helping people of all ethnic groups and backgrounds to learn about the Bible. As a speaker of Albanian, he sought out others of Albanian background in the local area to conduct Albanian language Bible studies. In addition to visiting people at their homes, he regularly held Bible studies at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester, NH.
He was predeceased by his one love, his wife of 41 years, Jeannie (Labrie) Gjika of Manchester, NH in 1997. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Lisa Ann (Gjika) Roller of Manchester, NH in 2014, a brother, William Gjika of Brighton, MA and a sister, Dimitra (Gjika) O'Brien of Malden, MA.
He is survived by his sister Lillian (Gjika) Sotiros of Foxboro, MA and a brother, Victor Gjika of Watertown, MA, daughters Deborah (Gjika) Kolaras of Manchester, NH, Cindy (Gjika) Coburn of Hooksett NH, Leila (Gjika) McVeigh of Greenland, NH. He is also survived by a son Robert Gjika of Escondido, CA, ten grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Near the end of his life, he expressed the same conviction as Job, a faithful man of ancient times: "If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call, I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands." (Job 14:14,15)
Services will be held Saturday, April 7th at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 99 Daniel Plummer Road, Manchester, NH 03045. The Cremation Society of NH is assisting the family with arrangements. To view an online memorial or leave a message of condolence please go to www.csnh.com.
