Daniel Joseph Griffin

Daniel J. Griffin, 93, of Litchfield NH was born April 8, 1930 in Manchester NH to Michael Griffin and Jane (Johnston) Griffin.  He died July 16, 2023 at home after a brief illness.  Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene Griffin.

Daniel served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska.

Daniel was a passionate outdoorsman with a love of hunting and fishing.  He was an excellent marksman.  Throughout his life Daniel served as a member of the Ski Patrol and embraced a love of skiing well into his 80's. Daniel found joy in other hobbies such as golfing which brought him both relaxation and moments of friendly competition.  He served many years as a volunteer with the Winter Special Olympics.  His kindness extended beyond human interactions as he had a deep appreciation for wildlife.  He was able to hand feed any and all critters he happily welcomed into his yard.   Daniel was very fond of spending time with friends and neighbors while enjoying cocktails together.  These cherished moments created everlasting bonds that will be treasured by those fortunate enough to have experienced them.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son Matthew Griffin and wife Eleanor of Auburn, NH, his daughter Elizabeth Louis of Litchfield, NH and his grandchildren Jake Louis of Manchester, NH and Olivia and Jonathan Griffin of Auburn NH.

Daniel was an extraordinarily kind and gentle soul who will be missed by all.

A burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bedford NH and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
