Daniel W. Harte

We are saddened to share that Daniel Harte of Manchester, NH passed away on Sunday, July 7th.

Dan was born in Portsmouth, NH on March 8th, 1952, to Margaret “Rita” and William “Bill” Harte.

Dan had over 50 years in the telecom industry in New England, following in the footsteps of his mother and grandfather. His knowledge and work ethic were unparalleled and a source of great pride to his family.

From a work perspective, one of his proudest moments was being an integral part of the restoration efforts of the underground cables in New York City after the attacks on 9/11.

Dan’s personality was larger than life. He was famous for a good joke and story (often not politically correct but still funny).

Dan was a doer, committing himself fully to helping others and truly making a difference. For many years he volunteered as an EMT/Firefighter for the Warner Fire & Rescue Department.

He was well known in the Kearsarge community as a basketball coach from grade schoolers all the way up through assisting the men’s team at New England College in Henniker, NH. He had a love of Harley-Davidsons, wooden boats, Ford trucks, antique barns, and all New England professional sports – Bruins, Sox, Pats, and Celtics…he was thrilled when the Celtics just won the NBA championship, he joked, ‘Thank God the C’s won #18! I can finally go in peace!”

Dan leaves his loving ex-wife, Laurie; his sons, Josh, Jack, and Andy; daughter, Kate; sister, Connie and her husband, Jim; sister, Patty, and brother, Stanley; grandchildren, Avery, Deirdre, Kingston, Jacob, Isla, Mina, and Gigi. He also leaves nieces, Leila, Lacy, and Allie; and nephews, Reid, Dylan, and Dean. Daughter in laws, Catherine and Rachel Harte; and son in law, Jaime Williams; and sister-in-law, Heidi Driscoll and her husband, Ed.

To honor his memory, the family will toast Dan in a Celebration of Life on Friday August 30th. You are encouraged to go to your local watering hole and raise a glass (or Corona) in his memory.

Please consider a memorial donation in his name to Warner Fire & Rescue, 148 W. Main Street Warner, NH 03278.
