Daniel Bernard O’Connor Jr., a lifelong resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at his home on December 2, 2025, after a long illness.
Born to Daniel Bernard O’Connor Sr. and Evelyn (Crowley) O’Connor, Dan lived a life defined by devotion to family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He served proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran, completing his tour from 1969 to 1970.
Dan spent many years working in the woods for the Manchester Water Works, a job he cherished for its connection to nature. He found peace at the lake, comfort in the forest, and joy in life’s simple, quiet moments. He loved cycling, practicing martial arts, spending time with his dogs, and staying active in his garden. Above all, Dan’s greatest pride and happiness came from his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine (Christopher) O’Connor; his daughter, Shannon Jackitis of Epping; and his son, Brian O’Connor of Hooksett. Dan was the proud grandfather of Brianna O’Connor Shack and her husband Jeremy; Danielle Jackitis and her fiancé Christian Millet; and Ashley Libby and her husband Kevin of Maine. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Jaedyn Roberge, Jaxon Shack, Juliana Shack, Lilly Libby and Dawson Libby.
Dan is survived by his siblings, Eileen Hickey of Georgia; Patricia Donahue of Manchester; and Brendan M. O’Connor of Manchester. He was predeceased by his sisters Maureen Casey, Sheila Murray, Shauna Fournier, and Kathleen Oliver Deschamps. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm Street, Manchester, NH. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Dan’s honor.
