Daniel "DJ" Reardon passed away on August 5, 2016 at his Concord, N.H. home surrounded by his loving family after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 25, 1936 and raised in Lowell Mass, the son of the late Evelyn (Smith) Reardon and Daniel J. Reardon. Dan graduated from Lowell High School in 1955 where he played baseball and ran track and attended Bentley College. Shortly after, Dan went to work in the family business; D.J. Reardon & Company founded by his father D.J. Reardon in 1933 immediately after the repeal of prohibition & issued the first license as a wholesaler in the state of Massachusetts. Dan worked there until his retirement in 1998.
Dan was an avid fisherman, spending countless hours on his beloved Lake Winnipesaukee where he made his home on Smith Point in West Alton until moving to Concord in 2014. Baseball was his other joy having held season tickets to the Boston Red Sox grapefruit league where he and his wife Ann spent the past 16 years as winter residents in Naples, Florida. Master of the one liner, Dan was known for his quick wit and would astonish his grandchildren with his ability to pull eggs and quarters out of their ears.
Dan will be remembered as a wonderful husband, brother, father, uncle, "Grampa" and as a loyal friend to many.
Dan leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Ann L. (Morrow) Reardon; four children Deborah A. Jadczak of Warner, NH ; Douglas W. MacDonald of Scarborough, Maine; Jill Metz of Oviedo, Florida, and Gregg E. Reardon of Lowell, Massachusetts. Dan was known as "Grampa" to nine grandchildren; Tucker D. Jadczak of Warner, NH; Jason MacDonald & Jessica (MacDonald) Ramsey of Maine, Zachary Metz & Jeffery Metz of Florida , Samantha Reardon, Harry Reardon, Elizabeth Reardon of Massachusetts and Brittany Reardon of New Hampshire in addition to 4 Great-Grandchildren Caleb & Graham MacDonald; McKinley & Rhys Ramsey all of Maine.
Dan was predeceased by his brother Joseph Reardon, Sisters Mary (Reardon) Heafy, and Evelyn (Reardon) Heafy and survived by his loving sister Martha (Reardon) Hanson of Hollis, N.H. in addition to many nieces and nephews.
At Dan's request there will be no calling hours and graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dan's name to The Jimmy Fund to support cancer research and patient care at:
