Listen to Obituary

Dante Antonio Santora, 100, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Wentworth Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire. He was born on January 30, 1925, in New York City, the son of Anthony Santora and Rosa (Curcio) Santora.

Dante dedicated much of his life to the study and practice of psychology. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brooklyn College and completed graduate work at City College of New York and The New School for Social Research. His distinguished career included positions at the Plattsburgh Child Guidance Clinic, Dannemora State Prison, and Clinton County Mental Health Services, where he was widely respected for his compassion, intellect, and professionalism. He later served as a consultant for various agencies and colleges and maintained a private practice.

On February 26, 1972, Dante married Margaret Santora in Plattsburgh, New York, and together they shared more than fifty years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

In his later years, Dante found great joy in the quiet contentment of reading, listening to music, and traveling with his wife to places he had once only imagined visiting. A proud Italian-American, he cherished the simple pleasures of home, especially his Sunday tradition of cooking sauce that filled the house with warmth and preparing his signature soupy lasagna, a family favorite that will long be remembered.

Dante is survived by his wife, Margaret Santora; daughters, Donna Vovsko, Kathy Santora, Emily Biehl, and Nina D’Aran; and his many loving grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Santoro, and his sister, Clara Favilla.

Dante’s life was marked by intellect, kindness, and enduring curiosity. He will be remembered for the steadiness of his spirit, his lifelong dedication to helping others, and the peace he found in the simple, beautiful moments of everyday life.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
