Darlene J. Smith

On December 30, 2023, Darlene Joyce Smith, age 68, passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 14, 1955, in Concord, NH, she fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a very hard working, beautiful, caring, and loving person.

She grew up in Penacook and went to work at Concord Group Insurance for 27 years and, after early retirement, moved to Lincoln with her husband Thomas Smith, to own and operate the Mt. Liberty Motel and Cabins for 7 years. She loved meeting people and always remembered their names and made them feel at home. Then, they moved to Webster, and she worked at Granite Ledges in Concord as an aide in the Dementia Unit until she retired for the last time.

She loved music and traveled extensively over the last 25 years with family and friends. Her favorite past times were enjoying the beach, searching for shells, listening to island music with a mixed drink in hand and dancing the night away.

She is predeceased by her father, Arthur Guinard, Sr., mother, Marie Fournier, sister Kathleen (Guinard) Clarke, and brother, Robert Guinard,

She leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Thomas Smith of Boscawen, daughters Lisa Smith of Boscawen, and Jodi Smith of Concord, as well as three grandsons, Jerrod Smith, Thomas Dwyer and Dillon Smith. She also leaves her sister, Marie Whiting and husband Robert Whiting of Boscawen, and brother, Arthur Guinard, Jr. of Tilton. As well as nieces, nephews, step brothers and sisters.

In addition, she left behind a very special friend, Sandra Fredrickson of Concord, who always put a smile on her face.

The family will receive visitors 2:00-3:00pm Thursday, January 18^th at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King Street. Boscawen, NH 03303. Memorial service will begin at 3:00pm in the Cremation Society Chapel to have family and friends share their memories.
