Darlin M. Wilkins

Darlin passed away peacefully at her home in Manchester, NH on April 21, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and her three children. She was born Darlin Mae White to Charles O. White and Lorraine A. (Marshall) on October 29, 1942, in Bennington, VT.

Darlin attended local schools in Bennington and earned a degree from St. Joseph’s College. In younger years, she was employed at Union Carbide. Later, she followed her heart and became a caregiver for those in need, with a particular concentration on the elderly. She worked at both Prospect Nursing Home and Watson House Community Care Home in N. Bennington, as a direct care worker, activities director, and manager. She also tended to the care of several friends, her mother, and her sister before their passing.

In 1960, she married Harold E. Winchell Jr., and eventually gave birth to three children, Kimberlee, Chip (Harold III), and Tammy. Later in life, Darlin married again. Dominic Carangio proved to be the love of her life and they enjoyed many happy years together.

Darlin enjoyed life and was always a hard worker and positive spirit for all those who knew her. She enjoyed her two shih tzus, Casey and Colby, music and dancing, visiting the ocean, sewing and reading, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Darlin was predeceased by a brother, Charles “Butch” White, and a sister, Beverly Jean Lafont. She is survived by her three children, her four brothers, Norman from Montserrat, West Indies, William from Arizona, Mark from North Carolina, and Jeffrey from Bennington. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

At the request of Darlin, there will be no services at this time.
Friends and loved ones who choose to make a donation in her name can contribute to St. Jude’s, which was her favorite organization.
