David Lakeman Barter, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, after a brief stay at Granite VNA Hospice House, with family surrounding him.
David was born in Beverly, Massachusetts on April 27, 1949, to Doris (Graves) Barter and Paul Barter. He was the oldest of three children. The family moved to Concord, NH in 1952.
He graduated from UNH in 1972 with a major in hotel/restaurant management and a minor in music. He began his career working for Hilton Hotels in New York City following graduation.
In 1974 he married the love of his life, Kathleen Ann Marden of Concord. They lived in Connecticut while he worked for Zeilers Food Service Corporation.
David was a professional drummer and DJ who had his own three-piece musical combo. His talents as an independent entrepreneur lead to his owning Profile Cleaning Services in Merrimack and A# (Sharp) Music & More in Belmont. He could also be spotted three seasons of the year out in the community serving as the Good Humor ice cream man.
He loved cooking, sailing his boat on Lake Winnipesaukee, and designing coastal dioramas with lighthouses and boats. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Concord, NH.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen of fifty years; daughters April Barter of Nashua and Sarah Bissonnette of Concord; granddaughter Mary Rondeau of Manchester; sister Deborah Kurz, brother-in-law Perry Kurz, and nephew Damon Goss, all of Wentworth; sister-in-law Cindy Cann of Concord; niece Melinda Harris and husband Brad Harris of Bow; and many other nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, at 10:00am at Christ the King Parish Church, 72 South Main Street, Concord, NH.
