David J. Dubay

David J. Dubay of Londonderry, NH, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Hospice House of Merrimack after a valiant two-month struggle with pancreatic cancer, his devoted wife at his side. David was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Kasper) Dubay with whom he would have celebrated twenty-one years of marriage on February 11. He was born and raised in Dexter, Maine, the youngest of eight children of Phillip and Ruth (Dyer) Dubay. After graduating from Dexter HS, he enlisted in the US Air Force, proudly serving his country for four years. Fate then took him to Maynard, Mass., where, while awaitting college, he took a summer job at the then-infant company, Digital Equipment Corp. He was "badge 68" as he embarked on an extraordinary career that spanned thirty-three years. He literally travelled all over the globe for the company for many of those years, living in England for several years in the late 1970s. In the spring of 1990, after a business trip to France, he brought his bride to Europe for an unforgettable two-week vacation. David culmintated his tenure with Digital as Sr. Logistics Mgr., overseeing the entire Dascomb Rd. facility in Andover, Mass., which was Worldwide HQ supporting service around the globe. After his retirement, he and Elizabeth moved to Asheville, NC, and later to Williamsburg, VA,, where they resided for several years before returning to NH. He thoroughly enjoyed his part-time job as a school bus driver for First Student, Inc., driving for the Derry school systems since 2008. David was an extraordinarily multi-talented man with a brilliant, quick-witted mind. His intense dark brown eyes were truly the sparkling windows of his soul. With his wife, he shared a love of birds and animals, belonging and contributing to many humane organizations and a love of art, poetry and music. They loved travelling both near and far visiting family and friends and many historic destinations. His many other passions included photography, books, creating incredible to-scale models of historic buildings and, of course, computers. He was a superb cook and loved designing and planting herb gardens in particular and flowers of all kind. He was an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox since boyhood and of the NE Patriots. . Besides his loving wife, Elizabeth, David is survived by his father-in-law, Joseph J. Kasper of Londonderry, a step-daughter, Cherilyn Ponton and three step-grandkids, all of Nashua NH, his brother Richard and his wife Carolyn Dubay of Brooksville, Florida, his sister Greta Field of Newport News, VA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Martha Kasper, who died on November 1st and sister-in-law Jeanne (Kasper) Ochsner of Napa Valley, Calif. who died unexpectedly in late July. He was predeceased by four brothers, Merle, Raymond, Gary and Dana Dubay, and a sister, Barbara Herrin. Dave, you left so many memories to cherish and we will all miss and remember you forever. A graveside inurnment service is planned for the spring, his favorite season.
