David L. Lasch, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017, with loving family members at his side. Dave had lived in Bridgewater, New Hampshire with the love of his life, Lillian. He was the beloved son of John and Claire (O'Reilly) Lasch. Born on September 7, 1944 in Norwich, Connecticut,
Dave was a 1962 graduate of Griswold High School. Following high school, he went to work for General Dynamics Corporation's Electric Boat Division, serving as a technician in the printing division. Thereafter, he was hired by the United States Navy, serving in the printing branch at Groton's submarine base.
He fell in love with Lil (Harpin), and the two were married in 1965. Dave and Lil had four girls: Tina, Tammy, Wendy and Shelly. For many years, Dave and Lil and the girls spent time at their camp in Northfield, Vermont hunting and fishing and enjoying the great outdoors (including an outdoor privy made from road signs). In 1978, Dave and Lil decided to follow their hearts and moved with their daughters to Huntington, Vermont in the Champlain River Valley. An expert printer, Dave opened his own small business, Champlain Valley Printing, in South Burlington. The business was a great success, in large measure to the involvement of Dave's family and longtime employees who were considered kin. Dave spent many happy years hunting and fishing in the wilds of Vermont and beyond with his best friend, Ray Ingham, his girls, sons-in-law, Dean and Doug, grandsons Zachary, Jacob and Douglas, Jr. and many of his closest friends. In 2015, Dave and Lil moved to Bridgewater, New Hampshire, where they enjoyed driving through the forests surrounding Newfound Lake, which they came to love in the company of family and many new friends. Dave was especially happy sitting around a campfire sharing stories with good friends and family, who pronounced him a "National Treasure" celebrated annually at a joyous gathering. He was proud of and humbled by the many close family friends whom considered him part of their family as their brother, uncle, father and grandfather.
Dave is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Lillian, daughters and sons-in-law Tina and Dean Corron, Wendy and Doug Williams, and Shelly Lasch. His beloved daughter Tammy predeceased him in 1968. Dave's grandchildren are also bereaved, Zachary and Jacob Corron, Douglas Williams, Jr., Amy Lewis and three great grandchildren Scarlett Corron, Landon Williams and Annalee Lewis.
At Dave's request, the family will gather privately for his internment in Huntington, Vermont, with a celebration of life to be held in Spring, 2018.
In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, condolences can be expressed directly to his family with any tales spun in a fitting remembrance of Dave, who always appreciated a good laugh and tall tale. He was well loved.
