David M. Matthews of Newbury, NH and Englewood, FL, passed away peacefully at home in Newbury with his wife, Ruth, at his side on May 16, 2024, 66 years old. Dave was born on May 26, 1957, to Gloria (Lord) Matthews and Peter Matthews. Both now deceased. Dave was born in Painsville, Ohio, grew up in Windsor, VT, Claremont, NH, and Newbury, NH.
He graduated from Keene State College and worked for Astronics in Lebanon, NH, as an engineer until he and Ruth retired in 2019. Dave met Ruth Andrewski, “the love of his life” kayaking on Lake Sunapee. They bought a house together in FL where they both enjoyed their retirement together and still spending summers in Newbury. They bought an RV and traveled cross country and took three months enjoying it. Dave’s passion was skiing. Traveled through life from one ski area to another.
Dave had two stepsons, Stan Andrewski and his wife, Kate, of North Sutton, NH, and John Andrewski and his partner, Laurie Banks, of Freedom, NH, as well as three step grand-daughters Kristine Andrewski Talalas and husband, Jim, Hallie Adrewski and partner, Matthew Denham, and Victoria Andrewski. Dave and his closes friends, Brent LaDeau (deceased), Peter Perube, and Alan Bechok were the “4 Amigos” always into mischief in their earlier years and remained great friends. Karen LaDeau was like a sister to him and he thought the world of her. Gary Szalucka, a good friend who always winterized his boat and they had many fun times together.
Dave wanted no service, but there will be a small celebration of his life with his closest family and friends.
In the hearts of those who loved you, you will always be there. Treasured forever in our memory, forgetting you never.
