David A. Thompson Jr, 90 years young, peacefully passed into the celestial lodge June 15, 2023 at The Manchester VA where the dedicated staff at the Community Living Center offered honor and dignity. His wit and good humor continued to shine to the end.
Dave was born in Boston, enjoyed teaching fighter-plane hydraulics in the US Air Force and honorably discharged as a ranking tech sgt. He obtained his graduate degree in electrical engineering while raising his family with ex-wife, Alayna; and serving in the naval reserves. He excelled as gyro technician at Raytheon, designing and perfecting instrumentation for space launch vehicles. Supervisory and meticulous laboratory management skills lead to working as the senior architect engineer project manager for all the New England U.S. Postal facilities and instrumental in postal automation. In 1984 David was the only naval reservist in the country awarded Master Chief.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Angel Thompson and his sisters Connie and Judy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna, who worked tirelessly to keep him at home with love and affection, providing outstanding care while maintaining his dignity. He is survived by his daughters Karin and her husband Kurt Swoveland, Dyane M. Thompson, Pamela and her husband Leigh Brown and Cynthia Gossman. He is survived by grandchildren Ricky Greer II, Jennifer and her husband Kyle Knighten, Samantha, Nicholas and Kayla Gossman. He is survived by great-grandchildren Dylan Greer, Lily Gossman, Paisley, Skylar, Easton and Max Knighten.
He is survived by his sisters Bobbi, Betty and Nancy. He is survived by many, many nieces and nephews.
He is honored and loved by many close neighbors and friends including his Masonic brothers, Scottish Right family and his SNH Dance Company.
A military honor service, Masonic prayer, and kind words from ‘ the peanut gallery’ will be Wednesday June 21, 2023 0900, at the New Hampshire State Veterans cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
