Deborah J. (Ferrell) Searle, 72, of Groton, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 31, 2026, surrounded by love, following a courageous nearly five-year journey with breast cancer. With poignant timing, Deb passed away on the exact day marking 43 years since the passing of her dear childhood friend, Roseanne (Menard) Bonacorsi.

Born on May 17, 1954, at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Deb was the cherished daughter of the late Richard and Hope (Booth) Ferrell. She was raised in Westford, MA, and graduated from Westford Academy in 1972. On August 28, 1982, she married her beloved husband, Thomas C. "Chuck" Searle, Jr., with whom she shared a wonderful life until his passing in 2007.

Deb dedicated her career to helping others, working as a paraprofessional for the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District before joining Tyngsborough Public Schools, where she specialized in supporting students with special educational needs until her retirement in 2020. Her warmth, patience, and generosity left an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues throughout her years in education.

Above all, Deb was a warm, generous, and devoted woman who treasured her family. She took immense pride in her home and spent countless hours tending her meticulously landscaped gardens, filling her yard with vibrant flowers, herbs, and vegetables. A woman of many passions, Deb loved reading, listening to music—especially The Beatles and The Grateful Dead—and making fond memories on trips to Newport, Rhode Island, and Walt Disney World.

In addition to her husband, Chuck, and her parents, Richard and Hope, Deb was predeceased by her father-in-law, Thomas C. Searle, Sr.; mothers-in-law Mary (Kirkland) Searle and Helen (Thomae Stillson) Searle; her niece, Rebecca Ferrell (daughter of Susan); and her sister-in-law, Cheryl Ferrell (wife of Rick).

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Megan—who was her absolute world—and her beloved son-in-law, Tommy McGarry, both of Rochester, NY; her dear friend John Bevis of Groton, MA; her sisters, Nancy and Susan Ferrell of Westford, MA, Pam Fullford of Newberry, FL, and Judy LaBonte (Paul) of Hudson, NH; her brother, Rick Ferrell of Wilton, NH; her brother-in-law, Kirk Searle (Helen Grembowicz) of Milford, NH; and her sister-in-law, Kathy Searle (Richard Johnson) of Daytona, FL. Deb leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews, Rich Ferrell, Cliff Ferrell, Alyssa Flynn (Matt), Jessie Ferrell, and Melina LaBonte, as well as a loving extended family and many dear friends.

A celebration of life for friends and family will be held at a later date, with details to be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
