Delore Maynard Arsenault, 90 – also known as “Sonny” to friends and family, - formerly of Stewartstown, New Hampshire, passed away on June 17, 2024, after a brief illness.
Sonny was born on September 21st, 1933, in Beverly, Massachusetts to Cecile and Delore X Arsenault where he lived until at the age of eighteen, enlisted in the United States Airforce where he served four years as a member of the Military Police in Frankfurt Germany.
While in Germany, Sonny met the love of his life, Hilde C. (Schwanke) Arsenault and together shared 70 years of marriage while raising six children. Sonny later brought Hilde home to Beverly, Massachusetts where they lived for several years before moving the family to Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Sonny worked for many years at Associated Grocers of New England in Manchester, New Hampshire from which he retired. Sonny loved his family, enjoyed his friends, and especially loved camping with his wife and kids on his property in Northen New Hampshire. He loved yard sailing, hunting, bird watching, deep sea fishing, wrestling, mixed martial arts and people watching.
Sonny and Hilde retired in the early 1990’s, and together built a new home on their property in Stewartstown, New Hampshire where they enjoyed their retirement years together. In 2022,
Sonny and Hilde decided to move to Loudon, New Hampshire to be in close proximity to their children and their families.
Sonny is predeceased by his wife Hilde and oldest son Robert, but is survived by his remaining children – Karin, Susan, Michael, Cheryl, and Cynthia, as well as their spouses, sixteen grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Sonny will be remembered for his love of life, friendly personality and infectious laugh. He was a very straightforward and easy-going person who believed life was too short to carry a grudge.
In lieu of funeral services, a Celebration of Sonny’s Life will be held on Sunday, August 4th, 2024, at 25 South Road, Candia NH. Those planning to attend can RSVP to Susan Hebert at 603-345-0586.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to two charities that Sonny held very dear, the Wounded Warriors Project, a Veteran’s Charity and or the Tunnels to Towers, honoring America's First Responders, Veterans and their Families.
