We are heavy hearted to announce the death of Delphis George Dumas Jr, 88, who died of lung cancer on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at his daughter's home in Columbia, NH. He was born April 1, 1935,  in Putnam, CT, the son of the late Delphis G. Dumas Sr. and Leah (Rowe) Dumas. 

Delphis was a graduate of Killingly High School in Danielson, CT. He was drafted into the Army and served our country for a period in Germany. An industrious individual, Delphis worked at the U.S. Button Factory, Gerardi Super Saver, and owned a franchise with Arnold Bakery in Putnam, CT. Later in his life Delphis decided to work taking care of the residents of Mansfield Training School in Mainsfield, CT for 20 years before retiring. He was known to enjoy race cars, playing a round of golf, and watching sports on TV. His favorite team was the UCONN girls' basketball team. He is loved greatly and will be missed. 

Delphis is predeceased by his first wife, Gail (Gerardi), whom he married in 1953 and shared 26 years with. Gail passed away on April 22, 2009. Delphis remarried Deanna (Bull) in 2007; she also predeceased him on July 23, 2017. He is also predeceased by his sister, June Riley of Danielson, CT, his brother, Jimmy Dumas of North Carolina, and his stepson, Scott. 

He is survived by his daughter, Kim Mitchell and her husband, Brooke, of Columbia, NH; his sisters, Joan Couture and her husband, Roy, of Danielson, CT, and Janet Girard of Dayville, CT; his grandsons, Jay Hibbard and his wife, Lori, of Woodstock, CT, Ryan Hibbard and his partner, Tricia, of North Grosvenordale, CT, and Christopher Mitchell and his wife, Brandy, of Brooklyn, CT; his step-grandsons, Seth Mitchell and his wife, Katie, of West Roxbury, MA, and Nathan Mitchell of Eastford, CT; his step-children, Toren, Zayne, Darcy, and Shawn Bull. He is also survived by 7 great-grandaughters, 11 step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
