Denise C. Lamothe

Denise Lamothe, aged 78, passed away on June 2, 2024, at the Birches at Concord. Before living in Concord, she was a long-time resident of Epping, NH.

Denise was the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Thibert) Lamothe. She grew up on the NH seacoast and visited there often for walks and renewal. She was in the first graduating class for St. Thomas Aquinas in 1964.

Denise was a very accomplished women who had doctorates in both Clinical Psychology and Holistic health. Over the years she has practiced in Concord, Epping, and Exeter.  She also was an author and gifted speaker.

Denise’s flare for adventure showed in all things she did. She raced motorcycles and was a member of the “Merrimack Valley Trail Rider’s Association” during the 80’s. At age 50, she went on a vision quest to Death Valley and when returned home, she had the outline for her book “The taming of the Chew”.

For her family, her legacy is not what she did but who she was. She adored her family and loved them deeply. She was magical when it came to her grandchildren and created adventures for them which captured their attention and hearts. She had a knack of making people comfortable within minutes of meeting them.

Denise is survived by her wife of 35 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Arnold; her son Sean Hopkins and his wife of Danielle, daughter Mimi Sorg, and son Shane Hopkins and his wife Lisa. Grandchildren Seth Smith, Kelcey Hopkins, Alex Smith, and Dryden Hopkins and many great grandchildren. Denise is predeceased by her dear grandson, Timothy Hopkins.

Celebration of life will be held at First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter on August 3, 2024, at 11am. The family sends a sincere thank you to “Birches at Concord” for providing such compassionate and unconditional support to her during her stay.

If you wish to honor her memory, donations to the “Birches Holiday Fund”, which is given to associates during the end of the year : The Birches at Concord (benchmarkseniorliving.com). This fund is close to my heart because it was one of the ways to show gratitude to those associates for their amazing work; local animal shelters; or the Alzheimer’s Association (Alzheimer's Association | Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Help).
