Denise Spoor (Perry)
February 21, 1960 – September 27, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Spoor (Perry) of Ossipee, New Hampshire, who passed away on September 27, 2026, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born on February 21, 1960, in Providence, Rhode Island, Denise lived a life defined by strength, determination, creativity, adventure, and unwavering love for her family.
Known by many names throughout her life, including Mom, Mumers, Nana, and Ma, Denise had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved. Fierce in spirit and generous by nature, she approached life's challenges with resilience and met every opportunity with enthusiasm, kindness, and humor.
Denise was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Perry; her son, David Flowers Jr.; her brother, Russell Norman Perry; and her sister, Dawn Morgan.
Denise is survived by her devoted husband, Ben Spoor.
She is also survived by her loving children, Heather Forhan (Flowers), Ashley Marden (Penn), and Amber Green (Penn).
One of the greatest joys of her life was being Nana to Katie McAdams, Jordan Roberts, and Mikey Marden, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She is further survived by her siblings, Debra Crossley, Kathy Brockett, Brad Perry Sr., and Brian Perry; her stepchildren, Holly, Derek, Logan, and Megan; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.
A gifted artist, Denise shared her creativity through her paintings and through The Calico Canvas, a reflection of her love for art and self-expression. Whether through paint, handmade crafts, or thoughtful gifts, she found joy in creating things that brought happiness to those around her.
Denise loved gardening and could often be found tending the vegetables and flowers that filled her gardens while enjoying the birds that visited her yard. She took great pride in nurturing things and watching them grow, whether it was a tomato plant, a bed of flowers, a painting in progress, or the people she loved.
An avid outdoorswoman, Denise's heart belonged to the mountains of New Hampshire. She achieved the extraordinary accomplishment of completing all 48 of New Hampshire's 4,000-foot peaks in every month of the year, placing her among a select group of hikers to accomplish this feat. Her love of the outdoors extended beyond recreation through her work managing group reservations for the New Hampshire Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club and her volunteer service with search and rescue efforts.
Those fortunate enough to hike with Denise knew her whimsical traditions well. She often carried rubber duckies on her adventures and photographed them atop mountain summits, creating memories and laughter wherever she went.
Throughout her life, Denise embraced many roles. She taught various subjects at the school attended by her daughters, sold Avon, worked in the outdoor community she loved through the Appalachian Mountain Club, and devoted years to being a stay-at-home mother. In every chapter of her life, she poured her heart into caring for others and pursuing the things she loved.
Her home reflected her playful nature, filled with garden gnomes, artwork, and the treasured companionship of Sawyer, her beloved rescue cat.
Through every handmade gift, every carefully prepared meal, every mountain climbed, and every act of kindness, Denise created a legacy of love that will live on through the many lives she touched.
