Denise Walderich

Denise Inez (Dennis) Walderich, age 69, on June 28 passed peacefully at home, surrounded by friends and family.

Denise was born in Oklahoma and lived in Indiana and New York before settling in Derry, New Hampshire. A long-time member of both the National Organization for Women (NOW) and the Feminist Majority, Denise was an activist for the feminist movement from the mid-seventies until the end of her life. After graduating from Antioch University, Denise served as a marriage and family therapist and grew to become a tireless advocate to end domestic and sexual violence, working with both victims and perpetrators. She was a devoted member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, where she chaired the religious education committee.

Denise is survived by her spouse Mary "Malia" Till, children Jeff (Lori) Walderich and Misha (Charlie) Galley; grandchildren Caleb, Jared, Jaden and Tyler; and "adopted sister" Candy Walsh. Memorial contributions may be made to the Feminist Majority Foundation, Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, or the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.

A memorial service to celebrate Denise's life will be held on Saturday, July 25 at 2 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester, 669 Union St., Manchester, New Hampshire.
