Deric Scott Nugent

Deric S. Nugent, 48, of Nottingham, NH died September 2, 2011 at Exeter Healthcare in Exeter, NH after a brief illness.

He was born in North Adams, MA the son of Bonnie Lee (Amidon) Nugent of Charlemont, MA and Alfred Nugent and his wife Bette of Mountain Grove, MO.

Deric graduated from Mohawk Trail Regional High School in 1981. He served in the US Navy from 1981 to 1987 aboard the USS Greenling and was awarded a citation for superior performance of his duties.

Deric was self employed over the years, working in auto repair, woodworking and had his own sawmill. His most recent project was using his own timber and tools to create a custom post and beam barn.

He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He also liked auto racing especially NASCAR.

Besides his parents he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane Nugent of Nottingham, NH, his canine companion Zuri, numerous family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Phillip Alan Nugent who died in 1977.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Cremation Society of NH, 243 Hanover, St, Manchester on Saturday, September 10th, from 2-3 with his memorial service with military honors starting at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Deric's name, to either the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive #110, Bedford, NH 03110 or to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of NH, P.O. Box 3993, Concord, NH 003302-3993.
