Diana Eva Bounds of Portsmouth died Friday, July 9, at her home. Born in Somersworth on November 9, 1937 to Alfred and Alberta (Plante) Vachon, she was the second of five children. She attended Our Lady of Angels boarding school in Montreal and graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Rochester in 1956. She married Arick Bounds in 1957. She was the proud mother of a daughter, Monica Bounds of Portsmouth, and three sons – Arickey and his wife Julie of Strafford, NH; Douglas and his wife Carrie of Nottingham, NH; and Monty of Portsmouth. She was also stepmother to Eric of New York City. She was a loving Memere to four grandchildren, Aaron, Kristy, Kamresse, and Kayleigh. The wife of a career Air Force man, she lived in many places, including France, Germany, North Dakota, and Florida. Diana enjoyed being an Air Force wife and participated in NCO Wives Club, bowling league and baseball league. After his retirement, Diana and Arick settled in Portsmouth, and she worked as a supervisor at Busy Bee Cleaning Company for 15 years. Diana had enjoyed travel while a military wife, and she continued to travel for pleasure after retirement. She enjoyed RV-ing in Florida, Pennsylvania, Niagara Falls, and Nova Scotia’s Cabot trail. Memorable trips included Greece, Israel, Canada, England, France, Spain, Italy, Holland, Scotland, and the Caribbean with family and friends. She was an active member of St. James Church in Portsmouth. The joys of her life were her children, family and friends. She was a loyal and devoted mother. Diana always looked for, and found, the best in everyone. She made friends wherever she went, and welcomed all visitors to her home. All who knew her will miss her. In addition to her children, she is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Irene and Richard Rouleau of Wells, ME and Marco Island, FL; Annette & John Snook of Worcester, MA; Muriel and Daniel Bilodeau of Barrington, NH; and her brother and sister-in-law Roger and Jean Vachon of Lebanon, NH; and 13 nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial mass on Friday, July 16th at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church, Lafayette Street in Portsmouth. The burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
